PLEASE tell me this a joke. Let me get this straight...
Music = fighting? Do you go to a show for the music or to fight? Are
you bummed
if there ISN'T a fight? Or does this make you realize how crap the band
may be?
Dan
PS..."funnest" isn't a word.
Thanks for the spell check Dan. It should be "most fun". I'm only a high
school English teacher. Hopefully the spelling will improve when I finish my
doctorate.
In no way am I saying violence is necessary to enjoy a show. Trust me, the
older I get the more I realize this.
However, I have been to hundreds shows to hear all kinds of music in my short
little life, and some of the best have been punk shows in Sacramento with the
Sacto skins. I loved partying and fighting alongside those guys never
minding our difference in style or way of thinking. I could never tolerate
racism, and seldom passed on a good drunken brawl with nazis. I've had my
ass kicked pretty bad a few times (I'm not much of a fighter) but I look back
on all that shit as a positive experience and a lot of fun. I'm too old for
that shit now, and maybe it wasn't the "funnest" time I have ever had, but I
don't regret it a bit.
I think anyone who lives their whole life without ever having been in a
physical confrontation is missing out on something. I'm probably going to
catch a lot of shit for saying that, but what the hell else is new.

PS I will spell check this one! I hope I catch all the mistapes!
