Hello,
The one thing that this list does provide is an insight into the Mod scene
around the world, for better or worse.

However, there`s one thing that has puzzled me a lot, perhaps because I`m
not party to it.

There seems to have been a lot of self professed "skins" on this list over
the past months. Now I`m not having a go, and I`m sure someone could post
some long monologue about how the skinhead movement came out of Mod etc etc,
and that I don`t deny (and I think we`ve all heard it 1000 times). However,
the skinhead scene seems to be more rooted in the UK model circa late 70`s
than the original one. And indeed the musical tastes too.

Ans also, in the UK, skinhead was very much a working class movement,
whereas the impression I get from the current US model is middle class
teens. I picture David Beckham in a Ben Sherman and Docs! Can someone
explain how the mod and skinhead scenes combine in the US, and if my
preconceptions are correct?
