Is this a California thing??  So far the best scens in Boston seems to be DJ Vinny and What a Way to GoGo... if anyone knows of anything else I am happy to learn of it.  And what about London?  I am going this week and I want to know what to look out for.  Suggestions?

Yep, pretty much. It's their City Dan, we have just lived in it for the
past 10 years or so. The sooner we all get over this the better. Point
& click...point & click....
But seriously, one of the DJs (who also happens to work at Rooky
Ricardo's) has great taste in tunes. But he freely admits to playing to
the crowd and says it does get funky by nights-end some times. At the
same time, as he put it, if the sidewalk were lined up with scooters he
would CERTAINLY welcome the change to pandering to that crowd's tastes.
"Official" musical policy is 60s & early-70s R&B and Soul (all 45s),
with a bit of Latin, Hammond, and Jazz thrown in. The place is a pretty
cool dive though and last time I went drinks weren't really that
expensive at all.
Hopefully no afro wigs in sight...
