I don't think support for it should be that difficult: it all depends on knowing what sub to steal from Module::Build and what to do with which of its parameters. The example of WriteMakefile should be clear, I think ;-)
For Module::Build, it's not necessary to steal a function; you can subclass Module::Build, instead.
