You mean like you File::HomeDir requires newest MakeMaker and maybe
more but you don't know exactly and just want to look around the
uninstalled dependencies?

That would be a combination of C<test Module> and C<is_tested>.

The final step of installing would then be done manually.

CPANPLUS commands can be used for that too of course, and there's even
a plugin for the shell to do just that:
