I'd start with Lingua::EN::Units, and have the simple interface just expanding 'oz' to 'ounce'.* Include an option to also consider numbers, so that '8 oz' turns into '8 ounces' or 'eight ounces' rather than '8 ounce'. * which naturally deserves a 0.001 release all on its own, before moving on to the more complicated case
