As I suspected, EUMM is just too stupid to handle the version module (no offense intended towards EUMM). As a first pass, I can provide a Makefile.PL that only installs the pure Perl release; I'm having issues trying to figure out how EUMM wants to see the XS and C files needed to provide the version XS support.
