Maybe that is not the test that was failing. Do all of the tests pass?

Sure. I'm still trying to diagnose your earlier problem, but if it goes
away and you're happy, carry on :-)
Bit mysterious for it to pass now though since I don't think anything
was done to the code that would fix your issue.
Ken, is this possibly a CPAN on redhat problem?

So malloc calls a timeout and starts rummaging around the free chain,
sorting things out, and merging adjacent small free blocks into larger
blocks. This takes 3 1/2 days.
