You're not.
The chase to understand options currently leads through quite a few
uncommented functions. Did I miss a memo with the overview?
I think that it developed organically, though IIRC Andy Armstrong was
going to(/did?) improve it. For example, it used to be that none of
them were flags (and I didn't know that they had become such, I still
do `--verbose 1` and `--uninst 1`).
