That's an ugly hack. Add a file to the shipped test suite just so the author can verify their signature during disttest. Hope the user doesn't set that variable. We don't use the test suite to build the code. No need to clutter your test suite with silly hacks instead of using author tools. See also podcoverage.t, pod.t...
