rationale:
PDL::Graphics::Simple is a long-needed unification module that
provides a uniform API across the major legacy plotting packages
used for PDL (currently: PGPLOT, PLplot, and Gnuplot) . Since each
plotting package requires external libraries or applications, which
are generally not supported on all platforms that run PDL, it is
difficult to create demos or portable plotting code.
PDL::Graphics::Simple provides a guaranteed API that will render
plots with whichever of the existing modules is present on your
system.
