SQL can handles millions of records, and hence is a much better backend for the Quarantine.

 

If you want to get an idea of just what SQL can handle have a look at http://teraserver.microsoft.com (click the about link to learn more about the technology). You can see from the stats that SQL is used to handle over 331 million records in a single filegroup.
