Have you read the law and thought in much detail about it?  Im not wanting to really start a thread about this, so I will just give you a little food for thought...

Unless you are referring to a different law then I am thinking of...
The law provides guidlines for what is considered illegal spam, and what is considered legal advertising.  It does not outlaw email advertising, just outlaws misrepresentation of who is sending the email.

I see this as a bad thing, because with a legal means of advertising using email, they are legally able to steal the bandwidth I pay for. At least now I can complain to their host to get the situation remedied.

Iam not casting stones at anyone! just saying that I feel every customer should be consider a part of a "beta team" even though a select few are the actual users of the "beta software". I love modus 3 and have had 0 problems "knock on wood" and as for the future I look forward to the federal law that will be signed in january 2004 making it a felony to send spam email. I just wished large isp's like comcast and excite would learn about modus mail and what open relay means...... Margot has been a great help to me in the past and all the other people at vircom. this is the second isp i have been with that has purchased modus mail so i have a great deal invested in them and want to see them grow and improve daily

thanks again vircom and if i sounded like i was tossing stones "sorry" but everything in life has bugs and if we can not work together to improve things what good is it ?..........

well i am off the soap box for now

I've decided to ignore most everything before version 3. That was a different regime at Vircom and it is in the past. I think it is best if we can remember that, and not rub the current team's nose in it. That said, there is a lot of truth in your post.

Hi All,

You will start seeing the following logo (see signature) in the near futur. Only the members of our permanent Vircom Beta testing team have the right to use it. This does not give them special rights (other than getting their hands on our Beta versions and having their own mailing list), but it does indicate those who most likely have more experience with Modus3.

The Beta testing team is full for now, but if needed I might add a few people when the next release comes around.

Regards,

Michal Gaudette, Vircom's BugBuster "liaison officer"
