We had the same thing happen here until we updated the AV definitions. When we did the 11/13 update late yesterday or early this AM it seemed to slow everything to a crawl. Once we applied the new Norman definitions ~4PM today it was like someone pulled the plug and mail just gushed in. We had >35 MB holding and another 28MB in the spool. CPU use for scan went right to 90% until it was clear. J.
