We’ve been white listing domains which produce a lot of false positives (real estate agents, brokerages and trading companies, online retailers, etc.). As time goes on, I find I have to add multiple entries for the same host: we have to add [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] to white list the entire intuit.com domain. We could just use *intuit.com, but in cases such as match.com, *match.com would white list a lot of hosts that we don’t want to white list.
First off, I’d like to request some interface enhancements. Specifically, I’d like to be able to both sort and search the white list. I’d also like to be able to import and export the white list to and from a text file as can be done in other screens, such as the global aliases. In addition to a more user friendly interface, I think it would be nice to allow for regular _expression_ syntax. That would allow me to combine several similar entries for the same domain into a single entry.
Short of this (or, perhaps in addition to regular expressions), perhaps we could assign a type to each entry? When I add an entry, I’d be asked if I was white listing a domain or a pattern. Selecting domain would allow me to enter something like “match.com” and not have to worry about [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED], nor possible collisions with domains that end in “match.com”. Choosing pattern would invoke the current functionality.
Just some thoughts.
