Last week, on my various accounts and spam traps, I saw about double the
spam getting through as the previous week. This week, it seems to be
doubling again. However, I've noticed a few things which may help explain
it.

First, the amount of spam in our quarantine is up, but not dramatically.
This would seem to suggest that either we're receiving more spam or
ModusMail is doing a better job of catching it. I believe it's the former.

Also, our mail server log files are up by about 30% in size. I took a look
at the stats and it seems we're up about 10% each of the last two weeks in
terms of mail received.

Finally, we haven't had a false positive report on a personal e-mail in at
least a week. So, in addition to an overall rise in spam, Vircom may have
adjusted the SCA engine to prevent false positives. It's possible that this
change has lowered the catch rate slightly.

As I recall, there was a significant jump in the amount of spam just prior
to Christmas last year. I also seem to recall that it did not drop after
Christmas, as I expected it to.

We saw a significant jump in the spam getting through today. It is still
very low in comparison to the total mail load, but it was very noticeable to
myself and customers. Anyone else seeing this. I usually only receive one a
day and today I got over 20.
