Hello David,

We run into the same problem. We truncate the transaction log and shrink the DB all the time without issue. We are running SQL2K and by default the DB is created with the “Recovery Model” set to “Full”. This setting is in the DB properties, options tab. If this is set to “Simple” the DB will grow a lot slower. The default would allow the DB to be rebuilt use the transaction log in a disaster recovery scenario. I am not sure the quarantine what be my biggest worry if our SQL server crashed but to each his own. Another tip that could save you time is the Auto Shrink option also in the DB properties, option tab.

Hope this info helps.

Charles

Subject: [Modus] modusgate sql quarantine db

I have a pretty large sql quarantine database.  The transaction log is getting huge.  Can I safely shrink this file down to a much smaller size safely?
