If our users are having outbound mail trapped, then the same thing might be
catching inbound mail. So, some "fixing" might be in order, if possible.
I am impressed with MM3-SCA, and generally amazed at the ability to seperate
most spam from most legit e-mail.
Also I have seen legit commercial e-mail that gets trapped as spam... but I
can see how that happens. We have a business relationship with
"FreeColorPrinters.com" mail that does get trapped as spam, but to many
others, it would be spam.
On the other hand, quarantine just caught an offer from AOL to "use
USAWide.net on AOL", because I use AOL IM and they took my e-mail address
and solicited me. I don't consider that to be what I call a legitimate
business relationship... but I assume they do. :-), and feel that if I use
AIM, they should be able to send me e-mail offers. :-(
I am happy MM3 caught that spam to me and any of our users. :-)
So, we should keep the SCA "tight", but could use some way to treat inbound
and outbound mail differently. Perhaps:
1. Return outbound trapped mail the sender rather than quarantine, somehow?
2. Enable a Custom Filter that is a wildcard meaning "lookup From Address in
our data base", so we can exempt it, or even so the user could.
IE. "If LFA = true, {return to sender;} or IF LFA = {"[EMAIL PROTECTED],
{pass;)
Granted these do open some doors to inbound spammers.... but could be used
judiciously.
Even the user could be allowed to effectively set these directly in MM3 as
check box options without having to have them in our Custom Filters, they
could be internal optins to MM3.
