Mine worked fine after updating to 282.

Last error result is “the program did not complete in time”

As I replied to myself, but perhaps didn't make clear, the release notes for 282 contain:

Fixed a display bug when the Anti-Virus auto-update didn't work
correctly ("Result Error updating !s! 0x08X").

The error 0xE007FDE8 Access Forbidden during the Anti-Virus update was caused by to many concurrent connections to Vircom Update server.

To reduce such error, we have made some adjustment to our web server settings and the Updates should be working.
