Yeah, I used to use server aliases but when I spent 3 hours troubleshooting a mail problem because there was an alias at slot number 347 of over 2000, I decided to switch to catchall accounts in virtual domains.

Subject: [Modus] How to put all mail for a domain into one user mailbox at another domain.

Plus, 6 months from now when [EMAIL PROTECTED] wants to get mail and have everything else goto [EMAIL PROTECTED], you would have to rebuild it anyways.

actually that's easy.  you just put an alias [EMAIL PROTECTED] => [EMAIL PROTECTED] right above the alias that says [EMAIL PROTECTED] => [EMAIL PROTECTED].

marc and I both use worldgroup to authenticate, at least I think he still does. what I do is use synonyms for things that are true synonyms (mydomain, mail.mydomain, etc) and a few domains that didn't need to receive mail in names other than the true mailbox names. the rest I created domains and used aliases as I've described. some just have one mailbox and I just create on alias for *. others have more and I list each true mailbox and then the * last.

one thing to know though. if you have an actual mailbox with a name of say sales, it's possible that aliases won't get processed to allow wildcards to get sales at different domains to go different places.

I suppose some day I'll learn to set up some of my static domains to use registry or something other than wg but I haven't had the need so I set them all up the way I do my dialups.

Frank, I used to do this, but using system aliases gets hard to manage on a large system.  Creating a catchall account in the domain is a little easier to manage.

boulevard.com and vanity.net.  I want all mail for these domains to go to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

that's an alias.  [EMAIL PROTECTED] => [EMAIL PROTECTED].
