I believe if this is checked, it will wait for a specified timeout
before dropping the connection, unless the user drops gracefully (issues
a quit at the end of the transaction.) I usually turned this off
because I think I saw the same thing on my end.

Subject: [Modus] SMTPds not closing connections
Importance: High

Modusgate v3, build 282 on Windows Server 2003

This morning I had thousands of connections in CLOSE_WAIT state and no
more TCP sockets could be opened (I actually had to walk into the server
room to get into the server).

Restarting SMTPds got rid of them all.

This happened a couple of days ago too -- I didn't take time to figure
it out then, I just rebooted.

Is this the situation System -> Settings -> Advanced -> Close SMTP
Socket Gracefully is designed to address? It's currently checked, should
it be unchecked?

Is there anything else that can be affecting these sockets?

Thanks,
Michael
