You can block file extensions to protect against virii but a lot of users
will not understand that.

If you have users sending .htm files then you have a security risk. Just
about any file attachment today is a potential security risk except for the
most common graphic type files but a lot of virii have posed as graphic
files using multiple dotted extensions such as kournikova.jpg.pif etc. The
more file extensions you allow the more at risk your customers become. We
allow only .doc, .jpg, .gif,.bmp and .zip files and we have no complaints,
if a customers questions it we give them an explanation and we have had no
issues with it.

Subject: [Modus] will Modus AS stop mydoom?

* This is the modus mailing list *

Hi all - we're running Modus AS ( that's the no anti-virus version) - will
it trap the mydoom payloads attached to messages? Other than block all .zip
files what are our options?

We also have several users who legitimately send .htm files as attachments -
if we unblock .htm will it create a major virus/security issue for users?

regards
