There were many great ideas when they originated... but times changed.
Open relays enhanced reliable mail delivery in the early days, they still
do. But they now also enhance undesired mail delivery and that obscures
their merits, except in the minds of a confused few.
Likewise for these various warnings. Great idea until return addresses
started being spoofed. Then, bad idea.
