In general I don't recommend the use of MacPorts stuff as it has a
habit of opening up a world of pain. Some of these problems are
described in:

  http://code.google.com/p/modwsgi/wiki/InstallationOnMacOSX

So, unless you have a specific reason that you cannot use the versions
of Python and Apache that ship with MacOS X stuff, I would stick with
the Apple stuff and just compile mod_wsgi from source code.

Maybe for mod_wsgi 2.4/3.0 I will consider a dmg/pkg installer for MacOS X 10.5.
