On Saturday and Sunday I was marshalling at a Hillclimb and as the weather was less that clement on Saturday I ditched the +8 for the tintop. I was within ½ mile of the track when I saw a Subaru Legacy turning at the sight of a huge puddle in a dip, so got out and stuck my wellies on and once the water was about 6 deep and rising, I retreated and went on a 10 mile detour to get to the paddock!
Chatting to another Jockmogger later I was told that a chap with a 4/4 Sport had negotiated the puddle the previous day but the water had been coming in through the doors! The car was competing both Saturday and Sunday and no drips were noted by the RAC scrutineer as far as I know! This suggests that there may well be a market for such a piece of kit. Perhaps Simmonds will start making one if there is sufficient demand! I am sure your car will soon dry out with carpets removed. Unfortunately removing the carpet under the seat is a bit more involved, but not a major task. I had my 4/4 booked in to Mike Duncan for the annual service and MOT something that I normally really look forward to. Just as I arrived in Hartlebury, it started to RAIN just had time to put the hood up. Worked away in a corner while Mike weaved his magic and set off for home around 1:15pm by which time it had stopped raining. Made it through a flood on the edge of Bromsgrove and then all went well until I got bored of the M42/A42 and took to the by-roads. The next flood I found was too deep for the Morgan (judging by where it came to on the white van coming towards me) and I detoured hoping to find a road that was not too deeply flooded. Three more flooded bits of road later, a very soggy Morgan is now dripping in the garage. So, the question: Does anybody offer a wading kit for Morgans? (as are offered for Land-Rovers) If this summer continues at this rate, we are going to need them!
