Hi Colin
At least my canister is under the bonnet so is accessible. I think I may check
it and see if it needs emptying If I think I have recently.had a filling
problem, just to ward off potential problems - I think my system may cope with
one overfill but not two as I refilled the day before and as the nozle wasn't
fully inserted it overfilled so a problem waiting to happen - at least we are
all aware +8 or not.
So much real life accumulated knowledge in this group - If we could ever get
it together Mogtalk could rule the world.

To: "mogtalk2" <[email protected]>

Hi Richard

I 'discovered' this is France when an over eager petrol attendant washed
the back on my +8 with petrol he overfilled it so much and then much arm
twirling and throwing buckets of water over the paintwork. All was fine
until the next day and about 3 miles in to a day out the thing just cut and
reverted to tickover, ticked over a treat until I tried to drive then
cleared and did it all over again. I could smell fuel and started to look
and found the EVAP pipes full of fuel, a massive struggle got the carbon
canister off the car (tucked up alongside the fuel tank) and I poured half
a pint of fuel out then let the thing dry in the sun, after that I left the
car ticking over for half an hour to dry the pipes.

I actually managed to do it again, my fault, when over filling on a long
run back to the ferry....never did it again after that!

Glad it was a simple one ;-).
