Tony Further, the timber frame is better not completely dried out, it is bad for the joints. Also bad for the joints is jacking on one side; the frame twists. If the joints are sound, jacking on one side will raise both sides but it puts a great load on the frame. Jack in the centre of the bottom cross tube at the front and lower onto axle stands; jack in the centre of the rear top-hat section cross member at the back, again use axle stands. When washing, I put a large plastic sheet under the bonnet from scuttle to cowl and after washing the bonnet gather up the sheet so as to contain the water. After washing take the car for a blow. This will also dry out the discs and prevent the pads sticking on. Driving solo in the rain with a tonneau cover over the rest of the car is very enjoyable. Put on one sidescreen, or not.
