I experienced similar coming off a ferry last year. I wasn't able to come
off diagonally as I n=usually do, because the crew were taking us off two at
a time. I had a slight bump, but all seemed normal at the time, though , as
usual, I kept an eye on the oil & temperature gauges for the first few miles
to ensure I was had normal readings before resuming desired cruising speeds
(70mph Officer!) But just as I got home the engine started making nasty
noises!

Headley (Morgan) Insurance accepted this as an accident and paid out for the
damage without any question (in fact I simply advised them, arranged
transport to BHM and waited for the work to be finished, when all I had to
do was hand over the£200 excess on my insurance.

But I now take extra care on all ferry ramps, sleeping policemen, and any
rough road surface.

Hope you get yours sorted soon - but if you have oil dripping from the
engine, at least you have some left there - which must be a good sign!

Subject: [mogtalk2] Roadster sumps

Hi all,

Very bad day in Rotherham, our roadster has sustained severe damage to the
sump caused by some sort of obstruction in the road (i think the object is
designed to be used for securing gates when closed, but is around 3-4 inches
high and - as i found out to my cost - very solidly constructed). Basically,
I now have oil dripping from the lowest point of the engine, and I suspect
it is out of action for a few days at least - and here endeth all hopes for
"Morgans at Windermere" at the end of the week!

I contacted the AA, and they advised me that as I had come into contact with
something on the road, the damage qualifies as a Road Traffic Accident, and
(as I had reached home) they refused to attend.

As I was leaving an organised event, and still technically on the premises
where the event took place, I have notified the organisers of what has
happened.

Have any other Roadster owners had similar misfortune? Does insurance cover
damage of this nature?

Any advice gratefully received......

Rob
