Had a few jars in the pub with with an ex RAF warrant officer who did 35 years!
And he joined up after I`d left ! But his dear wife had been a Wren so I was
able to to feel the celebration was quite legit.
Where the hell`s it all gone ?

In 1962 I had a 1937 Singer Le Mans, four seater. It cost me £20.
Aluminium body (red), steel wings and mudguards (black).
Tatty hood, my mother put on patches. I bought a black double duck tonneau
cover; the hood would have blown off.
Splendid engine, 972 cc single overhead camshaft.
Three brush dynamo. Good hydraulic brakes.
My grandfather circumnavigated in 1882/83 when he was 16/17 years old.
