I have a Ledgerwood wheeel socket and it is a beautiful bit of kit; It works
with a standard length torque wrench, or a bar  of  equivalent length, or a
smidgin longer
As with all these tools lift steadily  on the bar against the cars weight and
then it won't slip off. If you push down and it slips off you chin yourself on
the nearest bit of car.  Socket lives in my underbonnet tool box and the bar at
the back of the rear shelf - I sleep soundly at nights as well - doesn't cure
snoring though.

Bill,
Think, "Reassuringly expensive". Let that be your mantra as you try to go to
sleep.

Don't have nightmares !!!

Cheers,
Owen.
