I have seen similar behaviour (not infinite, but takes rather loooong).
Using a different Java version (iirc. Java5 -> Java6) fixed that.

Not afaik.

BTW: we need a converter .draw -> .svg to convert all twikidraw files
to .svg by a migration script.
