Try $ua->request_timeout($p->_timeout) ->proxy->detect (Lower-case) proxy is the attribute of a Mojo::UserAgent that holds a Mojo::UserAgent::Proxy object. Mojolicious is pretty consistent about how things are named. Mojo::UserAgent was/is a giant class filled with goodness, and things got "more complicated" in the (ongoing?) attempt to move some of the functionality out into other packages.
