All Advice please
I'm using mon and monshow.cgi from 0.99.2 I am running mon in a reasonably large and complex environment. My environment includes several "projects" that comprise of "say" a group of web servers, with associated database systems, LAN switches, router etc. I have these projects broken down into watchgroups and have watches configured with appropriate dependencies. I also have view's configured such that a project team can see the state of its resources. Where I'm having trouble is trying to configure higher level "view" to summarise the state of a whole project as a watchgroup. I've tried defining an additional watch with no hostgroup, that has dependencies on the "lower level" watches. If this has no monitor defined it is never updated. I've tried defining a "null monitor" for this watch that always returns good, and this half works, i.e. the watch is good if all the lower watches are good,, and if my summery watch is bad, it stays that way if any lower watch is bad. However, the state of this watch does not change if a lower watch goes bad... I'm almost at the point of writing a monitor that takes a "hostgroup" of watchnames and scans their state via the monshow interface... I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, can anybody enlighten me ?? Cheers ... Harry Moyes
