One of my monitor machines needs to run a kill command on a remote machine
when one of the daemons runs into a hang condition. I made an alert that
has '/usr/local/bin/ssh <host> "killall -9 <program>"'. This extremly
simple shell script runs perfect everytime when i ./ it. Interestingly, i
found that when mon fails on that service the first time...it runs that
alert and kills it fine. The next 5 minutes when it checks if it is hung
again, it does fail....but this time it does NOT kill it on the remote
machine. If i wait another 5 and it fails again...it still doesnt kill
it. If i restart mon without doing anything else...it fails and does kill
it the first time again....let it wait it wont second time etc...... What
commands/arguements if any does mon use to execute an alert? Could it be
an envirionment issue? Thanks.
