Yeap! There's the man pages of mon. Btw, you can restart mon to make it reload the conf file, or you can issue a "reset" or "reset keepstate" command to mon (with moncmd, see also man pages!) For simplify mon management, install mon.cgi. it's quite complete.

When does mon read my mon.cf file, do I have to restart mon to get it to read it? Can I exclude "alertevery" if I only want one alert? Maybe I can read this somewhere, is there a doc describing all configuration parameters? /Sren >From: "TORRESANI, Roberto" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: Sren Neigaard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: R: Monitor network interface >Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 12:56:39 +0200 > >Simply try to ping a host that you know it's reachable under normal >condition. > >eg: > >hostgroup ethCard <host_normally_reachable> > >watch ethCard > service ping > interval 5m > monitor fping.monitor > period > alert mail.alert [EMAIL PROTECTED] > upalert mail.alert -u [EMAIL PROTECTED] > alertevery 2h > > > >The real problem could be: > how can the mon server alert someone if it has only one card and it is >disconnected from the network? > 2 eth card on two different network ;-) > >Roberto > > >-----Messaggio originale----- >Da: Sren Neigaard [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] >Inviato: luned 8 aprile 2002 8.54 >A: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Oggetto: Monitor network interface > > >What should I use to monitor if my network card is working, so I get a >alarm >if someone pull the plug or something like that? > >/Sren > >_________________________________________________________________ >Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com > _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
