Hi eric,
I've setup mon to monitor and failover webservers running coldfusionmx and apache. They are monitored from a third host while the two webservers are doing dns round robin loadbalancing. when one fails a custom script logs into the other one using ssh host-keys and starts "fake" http://www.vergenet.net/linux/fake/download/1.1.8/fake-1.1.8.tar.gz to "steal" the others ip address. It has worked pretty well (better than the coldfusionmx servers running on linux).
hope this helps,
chrisj

can I install mon on two directors, and use it to detect each other like heartbeat.
My intention is if first director is dead, the second director will take over it and I also want to
make a alert file which used to change its hostname to the first director's.
when the first director comes back, alert file on the second will change hostname back to its original.

Can I do that?
and how?

Thanks.
Eric
