Some of our servers (about 80 at the moment) are sending traps (with trap.alert) to our MON server but although the respective trap service is configured with "traptimeout 8m" the server always reports "trap timeout" after it received no trap for 1 minute. The clients send a trap every 3 minutes (it really does, I checked it)!
It also seems impossible to set dependencies for a trap service. I set my trapservices to depend on "SELF:ping" but mon.cgi reports "depstatus 0" (but the host/service it depends on is OK).
Any ideas?
There are many known bugs with traps in Mon 0.99.2. Have you tried the 0.99.3 snapshots?
The trap timeout bug is definitely known, and I believe fixed. (I know its fixed in my version, I'm pretty sure its fixed in the 0.99.3 snapshots)
As to the dependencies problem, I'm not remembering any bugs with traps and depedencies (though obviously only alert dependencies are relevant for traps). I suspect a malformed dependency statement, or the wrong dep_behavior set. If you post a config file fragment we might be able to help.
