I hadn't even noticed that... thats exactly the problem. The monitor option should have only the name of the script in the monitor directory, not the full path.

Ah, I agree, that's a good catch, and not at all intuitive. I'll fix
the code so that if a monitor has a leading "/" (i.e. looks like a full
path) it will use it as-is instead of trying to look it up as a file
or path relative to mondir.

I guess the same should be done for alerts.
