Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Build Group: MonetDB Common CVS Head Status: Open Resolution: Fixed Priority: 9 Private: No Submitted By: Fabian (mr-meltdown) Assigned to: Jan Rittinger (tsheyar) Summary: Automaking MonetDB fails on CVS HEAD Initial Comment: Bootstrapping MonetDB fails as of yesterday evening's check-in in autogen. I updated all sources to their latest versions. Please fix asap. The relevant error message follows below, and happens in the automake phase: Bootstrapping MonetDB Common * Running autogen ... /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/common/src /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/common/src/common /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/common/src/gdk /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/common/src/testing /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/common/conf * Running aclocal -I . -I /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/program-x86_64/share/MonetDB (1.10) ... * Running libtoolize --copy --force --automake (1.5.22) ... * Running aclocal -I . -I /ufs/fabian/scratch/monetdb/current/program-x86_64/share/MonetDB (1.10) ... * Running autoconf (2.61) ... * Running autoheader (2.61) ... * Running automake --add-missing --copy (1.10) ... configure.in:28: installing `conf/missing' Makefile.am:27: HAVE_EXTRA_MK does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL src/Makefile.am:21: HAVE_EXTRA_MK does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL src/common/Makefile.am:65: HAVE_EXTRA_MK does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL src/gdk/Makefile.am:132: HAVE_EXTRA_MK does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL src/testing/Makefile.am:182: HAVE_EXTRA_MK does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL conf/Makefile.am:49: HAVE_EXTRA_MK does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Fabian (mr-meltdown) Date: 2007-02-16 09:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=963970 Originator: YES Jan, thanks, it seems to work again! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Stefan Manegold (stmane) Date: 2007-02-15 22:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=572415 Originator: NO Jan, by the time the mail was sent, the respective part of the TestWeb was up-to-date and looked like it looks now (I'm very positive about that, because I got the emails as well, looked at the TestWeb, and saw the problems), e.g., http://monetdb.cwi.nl/testing/projects/monetdb/Current/MonetDB/.Makes3/index_short.html http://monetdb.cwi.nl/testing/projects/monetdb/Current/MonetDB/.Makes3/index.html i.e., lots of red for compiling MonetDB, and clicking on the links in the "bootstrap" row reveals the bootstrap output and hence the errors. Moreover, the testing results for (e.g.) MonetDB4 and pathfinder http://monetdb.cwi.nl/testing/projects/monetdb/Current/MonetDB4/.mTests103/index.html http://monetdb.cwi.nl/testing/projects/monetdb/Current/pathfinder/.mTests103/index.html show now result, and the respective links to the Mtest output (red system names in the top row) reveal the reason: "Testing GNU.64.64.d on Fedora4 skipped as MonetDB4/.GNU.64.64.d-Fedora4/bin/Mserver is not available." ... apparently, the TestWeb and the result emails are by far not as informative and intuitive (not only for you!!) as I had hoped ... unfortunately I'm out of ideas (and time) to make them "even more" informative and intuitive ... Any (reasonable and feasible) suggestions and help (from anyone!) are more than welcome! Stefan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jan Rittinger (tsheyar) Date: 2007-02-15 21:39 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=993208 Originator: NO Stefan, I got the mail clicked the link (as I find the html version more readable) and saw no compile problems. Most probably getting the results online takes quite some time... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Stefan Manegold (stmane) Date: 2007-02-15 20:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=572415 Originator: NO Jan, thanks for the fix --- testing will show tomorrow, whether everything works, again. Speaking of testing, just a quick check, whether the automatic notification systems works properly: Did you receive yesterday a mail with subject "! Compiling 'Current': Results for MonetDB DIFFER from 2007.02.13_04-30-50's !" saying " Compilation results of MonetDB in /export/scratch2/monet/Testing/Current DIFFER from those of 2007.02.13_04-30-50 ! Maybe YOUR checkins since 13.02.2007, 04:30:50 caused some of the problems. Check http://monetdb.cwi.nl/Development/TestWeb/Current/MonetDB/ for details ! Old file: Mmake..2007.02.13_04-30-50..out New file: Mmake..2007.02.14_03-34-31..out ========================================= Summary: ======== * 13 Systems now don't produce output <======== ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ * 2 Systems still don't produce output Details: ======== 13 Systems now don't produce output: D8.8.0-G32/32d, F4-G64/64d, F4-n64/64d, F6-G32/32d, F6-G64/32d, F6-G64/64d, F6-G64/64s, F6-n64/32d, F6-n64/64d, G1.12.6-G32/32d, R4-n64/64d, S9.3-G32/32d, S5.10-G32/32d 2 Systems still don't produce output: C4.4-G32/32d, D8.8.0-G64/64d " and likewise for clients, MonetDB4, MonetDB5, template, sql, sql5, pathfinder, xml, amdb ? If not I have to check my testing environment ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jan Rittinger (tsheyar) Date: 2007-02-15 16:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=993208 Originator: NO The problem should be fixed now. I will close the bug if tomorrows testweb is green again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Jan Rittinger (tsheyar) Date: 2007-02-15 16:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=993208 Originator: NO I'm terribly sorry. (It seems that I forgot to do make install after I did make for the buildtools.) I checked in a fix that should make compilation for all projects that do not use an extra.mk work again. My real fix (that also repairs pathfinder) will be checked in as soon as everything compiles again. Sorry again for any inconvenience! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Fabian (mr-meltdown) Date: 2007-02-15 12:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=963970 Originator: YES Any news on this? I (and some other people) would like to run some experiments, but cannot compile MonetDB. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=482468&aid=1659776&group_id=56967 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
