Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: PF/tests Group: (zombie: Pathfinder 0.14) Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Stefan Manegold (stmane) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: XQ: different BAT IDs with 32-bit OIDs in merged_union test Initial Comment: "Just" for the sake of finishing the (my) assessment and documentation of the current status of the Pathfinder (and MonetDB) code base wrt. the available tests: (Most probably) since Thursday Nov 2 2006, hence, after (due to?) checkins on Tuesday Oct 31 2006 and/or Wednesday Nov 1 2006 (there were no testing results for this test on Wednesday Nov 1 2006), pathfinder test runtime/Tests/merged_union.milS produces different BAT IDs on 32-bit systems than on 64-bit systems. See e.g. http://monetdb.cwi.nl/testing/projects/monetdb/Stable/pathfinder/.mTests103/GNU.64.32.d-Fedora4/runtime/merged_union.out.00.html Note, the difference does not compromise the correct behaviour of the test --- we could easily "fix" the problem by either approving the 32-bit OID specific output, or removing the statement that prints the BAT-of-BATs result of mreged_union (and hence the BAT IDs) --- but the actual fact that the BAT IDs "suddently" differ *might* indecate, that there *could* a potenial BUG somewhere else in the code ... I didn't have the time to analyse this, yet. Until we find the time to analyse the problem (or decide that it is none), we have this bug report to document the situation and keep us reminded. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Sjoerd Mullender (sjoerd) Date: 2007-02-19 15:12 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=43607 Originator: NO It looks like the change is due to bat reuse. Note that there are two ways in which the results differ from the old stable output. The results differ based on the size of OIDs: 32 or 64 bit. We need to approve the new output and then close this report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=482468&aid=1596255&group_id=56967 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
