The current state of things is http://bugs.monetdb.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2802 This is considerably less work than the previous approach I did some work on to keep both JDBC3 and JDBC4 next to each other. We need a time investment to get the work done, which is dull work, but probably quite simple, as it involves extending and changing the interface.
