Dear Sergey, Sorry for resurrecting this old thread that I have just discovered. First of all, I would of course like to thank you for your work on Mongoose, that is an especially useful project.
I am the author of Orthanc, an open-source, lightweight DICOM server for medical imaging [1]. Orthanc provides a RESTful API for hospitals to automate their medical imaging flows. For this reason, Orthanc embeds libmongoose. I personally have no problem with the GPL, as Orthanc is itself GPLv3+ licensed. However, I now face a huge problem with the GPLv2 license you have chosen for libmongoose > 3.8. Indeed, GPLv2 is incompatible with GPLv3 [2]. This implies that Orthanc cannot benefit from recent updates of Mongoose without breaking your licensing terms. For this reason, I will ultimately have to switch from Mongoose to another embedded Web server engine. Would it be possible for you to consider using GPLv2+ instead of GPLv2? This would allow other open-source projects that are licensed with GPLv3 or GPLv3+ (such as Orthanc) to internally use Mongoose [3]. Thanks again, Sébastien- [1] http://www.orthanc-server.com/index.php [2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/License_compatibility#GPL_compatibility [3] http://www.dwheeler.com/essays/floss-license-slide.html Le jeudi 15 août 2013 10:57:53 UTC+2, Sergey Lyubka a écrit : > > Hi mongoose users! > > It is 9 years since I've started working on mongoose.
