Sorry. Tinf phone screen. Not a debug vs release issue. Yes you must distribute the redistributable if built with defalt flags. You can set in the properties to use static lib and then it will be stand alone.
Why they still encourage the dll is a mystery. Each process space gets a copy and hard drives are big....
