Check monit logs, run it in verbose mode to see more details, post your configuration.

It seems that something was restarting monit in your environment. How is monit started? (init controlled or startup script?)

Regarding the messages - sometimes the messages are coming slowly due to MTA, which queues them (you can check the message headers (Received-From should give the information).

Good morning all!

Yesterday I sent an message about faillure-emails for named that kept coming in, even when monitoring was turned off. Well this morning I get 100's of emails with the message that the "Monit instance changed". Last night I validated the monit instance after restarting it and everything was 'green'. Do I need to add some kind of closing remark to the monit config file to make it stop sending emails, after the problem has been solved or set to unmonitor?

Thanks for insights that might help!
