Hi,
which Monit version it is? Is it debian packaged 5.0.3? The problem
could be with contributed patch which was added to debian's monit
distribution for name resolving. We had added the change to next monit
release, but the original patch had multiple bugs which we fixed
before merge and most probably original patch in debian won't work
very well. You can try to compile monit-5.0.3 from official source
code (http://www.mmonit.com/monit/download/) ... it should fix the
problem.
Thanks,
Martin

Subject: [monit] http server could not create a server socket at
port 2812 -- No such file or directory
Hi,
We had been using Monit happily on a Debian box for a long time and
could access the http server on port 2812 no problem. Today we
wanted to add a service to monitor so we modified /etc/monit/monitrc
and restarted monit with "/etc/init.d/monit restart" as usual. Monit
is running, but we can no longer access the http server console.
Here's a log snippet:
monit[28691]: Starting monit daemon with http interface at
[...snip...:2812]
monit[28693]: Starting monit HTTP server at [...snip...:2812]
monit[28693]: monit HTTP server started
monit[28693]: Monit started
monit[28693]: http server: Could not create a server socket at port
2812 -- No such file or directory
monit[28693]: monit HTTP server not available
To repeat the steps that caused the problem, all we did was edit the
config file and restart monit with the init.d script. Didn't change
any other config files, services, firewalls, etc.
Is anyone familiar with the error message "Could not create a server
socket at port 2812 -- No such file or directory"?
thanks
