Hi,

Change your my.cnf to include, f.e.,

pid-file        = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid


Then check that pid file

check process mysqld with pidfile /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
        start program = "/etc/init.d/mysql start"
        stop program  = "/etc/init.d/mysql stop"
