Hi,

the official pre-compiled Monit binary archive uses "monitrc" file only. If 
your Monit tries to use "monit.conf", you have probably two Monit installations 
- one probably from CentoOS package and one (in different location) using the 
official pre-compiled distro. The following should find all Monit binaries:

        find / -type f -name monit
