Many thanks for using Monitorix and for your kind words about it. > > > I had an instance on my Ubuntu box, and no problem on install. > > When I loaded on my CentOS 5.5 build, the install works fine, but I get > errors on start (and stop) to the effect that the OSTYPE entry is an > invalid value. > > I haven’t changed it, it installed with the default I guess of > Linux-RHFCS entry. > > I suspect it’s something simple, but wanted to see if anyone else had > encountered similar problems? > As long as you downloaded the latest version (1.5.1) from the Monitorix official web site, you shouldn't have any problems installing it on a RHEL/CentOS system. People normally tend to have problems installing it on Ubuntu and Debian systems, but not on RedHat/CentOS or Fedora systems. Your case is really weird. Make sure that your CentOS is an original system, in the fact that you aren't using any tool with 'root' permissions that could modify some parts of your system (CPanel, Plesk, etc.) Also, consider give more information that a simple ', but I get errors on start', and paste the exact error messages and your current monitorix.conf file. Finally, you might want to chat directly with me (Mikaku) on IRC Freenode at #monitorix channel, to speed up the resolution time. Let me know.
