I can't help you with web parts but I do suggest you try stackoverflow where there's a lot more people able to to help. MVC3 should mostly work out of the box. If you have Xamarin Studio or MonoDevelop there is an MVC3 template included. MVC4 works with some help . I tweaked the Visual Studio templates for .Net 4 here: http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p1319/run-asp-net-mvc4-on-mono-monodevelop-on-mac-the-c-template-project. That page also lists some of the issues/solutions with getting MVC working and has links to stackoverflow for more details. This might also give you some clues with any specific errors you have with MVC3 (For instance, existing .Net code may be careless about case-sensitivity). EF does not yet work (although I believe it's close) Linq works. Again, with specific errors in getting stuff working, you'll probably get faster/more responses at stack overflow.
