+Unfortunately I seem not to have selected an OS option.  It's 
+Windows XP (and therefore SP2).  The application was compiled using 
+CSC but I don't think that should be relevant as the application run 
+under 1.1.9.2 compiled in the same way.  Moreover, one would not 
+expect a GC error to be implicated by the compiler.

+Alas I cannot send a test case because the example in which I see 
+this behaviour is a proprietary in-house application.  However I did 
+download 1.1.12.1 today to see if there is any change but the same 
+problem occurs.  In both cases we are unable to run windows
